King James Signs A Lifetime Deal With Nike
With the retirement announcement of Kobe Bryant just last week, all eyes are on the future
There’s only one sheriff in town now: LeBron James. At least that’s what Nike is betting on.
The Swoosh made international headlines this afternoon after signing a lifetime deal with Cleveland Cavaliers player LeBron James. It is believed to be the first lifetime deal in the shoe company’s 44-year history.
One might recall the $90M deal that was signed just prior to James being drafted into the NBA. 12 seasons later and LeBron James has won multiple championships, MVP awards, an Olympic gold medal and has basically taken over the league as the most dominant player of the last decade.
Nike understands the power behind Lebron, his marketing brand and has taken a very calculated risk, but an investment nevertheless on a player who will surely still be “the guy” for the next five to six years.
