Japanese sneaker giant Atmos finally answered the pleas of many to re-release one of their most iconic collaborations with Nike, which is the “Safari” Air Max 1. The Tinker Hatfield designed mashup of the Air Safari and the Air Max 1, originally released in 2002. The famed collaboration dropped at a time before the Nike SB phenomenon took off, and at a period of time when the most coveted Air Jordan’s did not surpass the 175$ price tag.

The “Safari” Air Max 1 was an instant hint due to its perfect combination of rustic hues, its detail in the use of Safari print on the side panels and orange faux fur on the toe-box, both which aged beautifully over time.

This re-release of a beloved classic came unexpectedly, but rest assure that collectors and re-sellers will not pass the opportunity to scoop one up this time around. The only difference from the ’02 Safari is that the 2016 version will sport an icy-translucent sole, instead of a gum bottom that was used the first time around.

The expected release date is set for February 27, 2016 at select Nike Sports Wear accounts.

Did you cop on of these gems in 2002? Or, do you plan to acquire this updated version at the end of the month? Let us know in the comment below.
